Coming January 2011

I know it's crazy to be thinking about the new year already, but I don't want you to miss the great opportunities that will be available at Weber State University spring semester! I'll finally be teaching another class for WSU come January and I'm so excited, even though I don't know yet what I'll be teaching (it'll be some form of Yoga/Pilates).

Visit the Fitness website in order to see the schedule (available soon!) and decide which drop-in classes you'd like to attend. Student and Faculty of WSU can attend free, while the community can drop-in for only $6/class.

If you don't know what kind of class you'd like to attend, check the website in January for the date of Fit*Tastic. It's a one-time opportunity to experience a condensed workout from all the different instructors and the genres they teach. It'll give you a taste of every class, from Zumba to strength training to Yoga and Pilates. The best part of Fit*Tastic is it's free (although $1 donations are appreciated)!

So there you have it. I'm all geared up for a class that hasn't even been assigned to me yet. I hope you'll check back with WSU in January to see me on the instructor roster!

Private group sessions for Yoga, Pilates or PiYo.

I've been contacted for more information regarding group sessions, which is wonderful because teaching a certain number of classes per week is actually a goal of mine. I'm a nerd, I know.

Being a nerd doesn't prevent me from teaching a good class though!

There's currently times available Tuesday through Friday for group sessions, and availability ranges from mornings to early afternoon. Just let me know what day works best and I'll see what time slots are available at Farr West Tumblers to meet your needs.

Pricing is as follows:

1 person = $30
2 people = $25 each
3 people = $20 each
4 people = $15 each
5 people = $10 each
6 people or more = $7 each

If you check around you definitely won't find deals like this anywhere else, especially since free childcare can be provided if arrangements are made in advance. You better believe I take advantage of it when I teach my $5 Friday Flow class, so you should too!

What is PiYo?

PiYo (also known as Yogilates) is a great mix of Pilates and Yoga. I personally choose to incorporate many traditional Yoga asanas (postures) when teaching PiYo, but with an added challenge- movement. PiYo is often referred to as Yoga for hyper people.

Rather than holding an asana for multiple breaths, in PiYo participants are encouraged to flow through movements that alter the asana and challenge the muscles. It can be a nice alternative for practitioners who get "bored" in Yoga classes because they don't like to hold a posture for a long period of time.

PiYo has a lot to offer to all body types- there are balance challenges, opportunities to tone muscles and increase flexibility, and it also allows a practitioner to lose weight since there is an element of cardio work involved.

I use contemporary music in my PiYo practices to keep participants moving!

For information on rates, please visit the PiYo page of this blog.
