About Liv

I started practicing yoga in 2002 while in high school. Throughout my time as a student at Weber State University, I began attending weekly drop-in yoga classes, as well as academic yoga classes.

I certified for PiYo through Powder Blue Productions in November 2008. An opportunity arose to teach a friend's Pilates class while she took maternity leave and I jumped at the chance. I enjoy PiYo because it combines yoga and Pilates into one smooth workout. It allows participants to move at their own pace and to increase mind/body awareness while challenging all muscle groups. I taught Pilates for about four years at Wasatch Therapy and Fitness in South Ogden.

I certified to teach yoga in the spring of 2010 with YogaFit. I was four months pregnant but knew there was no better time to move forward with the certification. I taught drop-in yoga classes at Weber State University and Farr West Tumblers for about four years.

I certified for Pilates mat teaching with FiTour in the fall of 2010. After two years of teaching with PiYo training I had the opportunity to exclusively study for and receive the mat certification. Coming from a yoga background, I didn't think I'd love Pilates as much as I do! It is very different when it comes to postures and breathing techniques, but the purpose is the same for me; it's about mind/body awareness and using one's own body as a means to exercise.

In 2016 I began a 200-hour yoga teacher training program at Salt Lake Community College. I finished in Spring 2017 and began teaching again after a hiatus! I've worked in both studio and corporate settings, and in summer 2017 I designed and hosted yoga camps for kids, which gives me an opportunity to educate children about yoga for exercise, yoga for emotional growth, and how art and yoga are connected to our well-being.
