What is PiYo?

PiYo (also known as Yogilates) is a great mix of Pilates and Yoga. I personally choose to incorporate many traditional Yoga asanas (postures) when teaching PiYo, but with an added challenge- movement. PiYo is often referred to as Yoga for hyper people.

Rather than holding an asana for multiple breaths, in PiYo participants are encouraged to flow through movements that alter the asana and challenge the muscles. It can be a nice alternative for practitioners who get "bored" in Yoga classes because they don't like to hold a posture for a long period of time.

PiYo has a lot to offer to all body types- there are balance challenges, opportunities to tone muscles and increase flexibility, and it also allows a practitioner to lose weight since there is an element of cardio work involved.

I use contemporary music in my PiYo practices to keep participants moving!

I am very interested in all 3 of these. Let me know when you start up. I might not be able to come for a few weeks, but I will try to come religiously after that. And yes, I most likely will be bringing my kids.
